Date with my boy....

Okay...so I am a little behind on my posts. The weather here has been WAY TO GOOD to NOT be outside....so much of my day is spent out in the beautiful world! The flowers are blooming...the grass is starting to green up again. Who could ask for more?

Anyway...last Friday night my oldest boy took me out on a "date". He hates that I call it that....he says, "Mom...it is just a mother, son outing." Okay...whatever you say Cam....but it was the best date I have had in a long time! I have been married 13 years....what can I say???

Anyway, he was so sweet. He even had Jeff go out and buy me flowers the night before and he hid them in his room...then he gave them to me before we left for dinner. He took me (I drove...he is only 11), to Applebees. He happens to really like their steaks. I must say...he is learning though. When I asked him where he wanted to go for dinner he said, "Well...where do you have coupons to?" What a good boy! Granted...I did NOT have coupons for Applebees that particular night....but that is okay. The fact that he thought about coupons and saving money does my heart good! :-) Anyway...we had a really nice dinner. Even the waitress got into it. I told him that I was going to order a salad because a real date would do that. Then the waitress said, "And she will only eat half of it." How true that is. I ate 3/4's of it...but a real date would have only eaten half!

In case you are wondering NO I AM NOT GROOMING HIM TO DATE SOON. But...I think that the sooner you can teach a boy how to treat a girl, the better. He won't date until he is 30....realistically...16.

When we left Applebee's he came over to my side of Daisy (My Denali). I thought he had lost his mind and thought he was driving. Come to find out...he was just opening the door for me!! HOW SWEET IS THAT????

We then killed some time at Barnes and Noble. Reading is BOTH of our favorite pasttimes! We just browsed books...and yes, he talked me into a Lego Star Wars book. I couldn't resist....he opened the door for me!!!! :-)

Then we went over to the theatre and he smuggled some candy in his jacket for me...like a true man. :-0

We watched "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." It was actually a pretty good movie. I did not read the books...but Cam did and he has now given them to me to read because the movie was really interesting....and Cam is going into the 6th grade (middle school), just like the "wimpy kid", and it has been awhile since I was in middle school....so I will read them...if nothing more than to remember what it was like. Or do I want to remember. Middle school years kinda suck if you ask me...at least what I currently remember about middle school. Oh well...it was a good movie nonetheless.

After the movie we came home and just did the norm. We had a great time though! It was a much needed break for me....and it was so nice to sit and talk with him about life without the interruptions of a 9 year old, 5 year old and 2 year old.

I did talk to him briefly about the newest drugs kids are using out there...but just briefly, I didn't want him to think that the date was about lecturing. I save lecturing for at home! :-) I went to a seminar recently about the new drug fad...I will have to post on that later.

Anyway....great time spent with my oldest baby!!!

Thanks Cam!!!!

How cute! I have two boys-- my oldest is only 3, but I can't wait to be able to take them on "mother-son outings"! And if my children are anything like my spouse, then we WILL be using coupons. :)
