MIA

Sorry I have been MIA. If you knew WHY I have been MIA, you would most certainly understand. It has been a fun week to say the least. Where to start? Well...Wednesday the 18th, the boys had their Well Child Check Ups. Both boys look great! Growing well...Cam is taking after my side of the family in height. He is only in the 31st percentile for height. But Jake...even though everyone says he takes after me....his height is looking more Filleman. In fact, the boys are only an inch in difference. Anyway....both boys had a bit of a cough while we were in there, and the doctor heard some wheezing...but nothing that alarmed him. He said if it got worse to let him know. In fact, Jake had stayed home from school on Wednesday because of a headache and bad cough. Enter Wednesday night. We couldn't get Cam's cough and breathing under control. We gave EVERYONE a breathing treatment because honestly ALL of them have been hacking. Then we gave Cam his normal meds...then he also used his inhaler. When that STILL didn't work...after putting everyone to bed...we gave him water, sat him up in bed and tried that. Midnight....still major breathing and coughing problems. I gave him some cough syrup and yet another breathing treatment. Still....no help. 1 AM, I put him in a hot shower and made him breathe in all that good steam. It relaxed him enough to at least be able to fall asleep. I JUST laid my head on my pillow when Jake runs in...it is now 1:30 am. "MOM....I AM BLEEDING!" Very tired and very frustrated, I said, "So...put a bandaid on!" My poor little 8 year old says, "No...mom...I am really bleeding...it is everywhere." I have heard that before...so I said, "So...put a big bandaid on!" He yelled, "MOM....IT IS ALL OVER ME AND THE BED AND THE FLOOR!" Well...that peaked my interest...THE FLOOR!!!!!!?????????

I jumped up, flipped on the light, and he wasn't kidding...there was bright, red, blood EVERYWHERE! He had smeared it all over his face, it was all over his jammies, the floor....his bed. EVERYWHERE!!! I ran him into the bathroom, laid him on the floor, put a wad of kleenix in his hand, told him to hold pressure on his nose...which is where the blood was coming from. I ran and got Jeff. I told him, he could have the cleanup of the bed and floor, or the clean up of the kid. He chose the kid. So while he was tending to Jake....getting him washed up, getting his nose to stop bleeding, etc., I was tending to the floor and bedding. FUN, FUN, FUN! By 3am we were all clean and ready for bed. I looked at Jeff and said, "Now which one?" Of course I was joking....but God who we know loves to joke around too....had other ideas, and as I was walking back to my bedroom a cry from the babies room. I didn't even try to get him quiet. I just picked him up out of his crib and put him in bed with me. It wasn't worth it. So, by 3:30 I was finally asleep. Needless to say, Cam did NOT go to school the next day, Jake did...and I and the other two did NOT go to MOPs. I DID take Cam back to the doctor though, who said his wheezing was worse, so they put him on an antibiotic and steroids to open his lungs up so he could breathe. THEN....I started feeling tight chested. My head started to hurt and my chest really did too. We went home and I really started feeling horrible. Wouldn't you know it, Friday Jeff stayed home so that I could stay in bed all day...which I did...until 4:30 pm to be exact...because I had a terrible chest something or other. I was miserable. Saturday I woke up and went to Urgent Care, my chest hurt so bad, I had no voice and I knew I had to get well before the weekend was over. I was diagnosed with Walking Pneumonia. Oh goodie. More antibiotics for me. I stayed in bed the rest of the weekend.

Dad's 64th birthday was Saturday and I had to miss the big party! I was very sad. So, Monday everyone went back to work and school. I just rested a lot of the day...well...as much as I could wtih a 15 month old and a 4 year old. I still didn't have much of a voice...but I was definitely better than I had been. Tuesday Jake had a play at school! He was an Eel! I had a lot of fun finding ALL green clothes for him. Luckily I found a pair of green sweats at K-Mart for 1.99!! Of course, they were boys size 14/16...which are big enough for me...but he wore them, and I did a lot of safety pinning!!! :-) He looked like a GREAT eel! He did a great job too! Wouldn't you know it though, I forgot my camera!

So as we are leaving the school, Cam says, "I have a headache...it feels like my brain is trying to get out of my head." Being the jokester I am I said, "Well...wouldn't you?" Ha ha...anyway, we got home, I gave him Ibuprofen and sent him to bed. At 6am Wednesday morning he woke up SCREAMING for me. He said his head hurt, he felt like it was going to explode. He was bawling. I gave him Ibuprofen, but it didn't seem to help. With his history of Meningitis, I felt like I really needed to have him be seen. So Jeff stayed home with the other kids to get Jake ready for school, and I called my dad to help me get him in the truck. He said he couldn't walk, he was just too weak. So, off dad and I went to take him to ER. We spent about 2 hours at the ER....really not bad for an ER...and after chest x-ray's, and nasal swabs, etc...they found a positive result for Influenza B. So...they gave us a note saying no school until the 30th and off we went with a script for Tamiflu for him and I both. The doctor said I would need it since I have to take care of everyone and since everyone in our house WILL get it. She wasn't very positive. So...dad and I came home, I relieved Jeff so he could head off to work and called Allyson who was supposed to come over to tell her to stay away from our infested house...and that was that. Or so I thought.

After waking up from his nap, Major was very crabby. I felt his little noggin and yup...you guessed it. He had a fever. I gave him Tylenol and once his fever dropped he got happier. So, he may or may not have the same thing. I have not had to give him any Tylenol at all today yet, so maybe it was a fluke. Who knows.

Fast forward from yesterday, to today...I just lay down with MaKenna to make her nap. I already laid Major down and Cam is also napping. The phone rings. Caller ID says, "Millard Public". Great. Yup...you guessed it again. Jake is in the health room crying because his head hurts so bad. So...off I went to pick up Jake. I just got off the phone with the doctor and waiting for him to call me back to see if we should officially test Jake or not for statistical purposes. We will see. Oh what fun!!!

So...that is what I have been up to in the past week. Isn't that exciting??? Don't you wish you were here????

A hunting we will go...a hunting we will go....

So Sunday, Jeff was going to go take his tree stand down with Mike. After church, Jeff told me he was taking the boys with him too. I thought...hmmm...it is a balmy 60 degrees out there...why don't we all go? So we did!! Kayla went with Mike, and Jeff, I and the kiddos all piled into Jeffy's truck...proving that it can be done....and headed down to the Plattsmouth hunting ground. It was VERY muddy...but we were all prepared with nice big boots! Thank goodness I am a tomboy and HAVE nice big boots! I put Major on my back in the "backpack" and off we went! We hiked to Jeff's tree stand first. After they got that down, we hiked to Mike's tree stand. Once they got that down we started putting them on the deer trailer thingies. Jeff and I took our four kiddos and Kayla and went for a walk down to the drinking area of the deer. We were looking for racks that had fallen off. Alas, we found none...but we did a lot of good hiking...burned a lot of calories, and we did find some coyoted bones. By the time we got back, good ol' Mike had strapped both tree stands to the deer carrier thingies and was struggling to get them both tandem up the muddy hill! SILLY GUY!!!! Jeff made it in time to pull them up the hill the rest of the way, but it was tough...I have to say, my guy is out of shape! Below is a picture of everyone walking through the corn field. Kayla had just found something...hence her face! The boys and Kenna are straight ahead...Major is on my back, and Jeff....we never know where Jeff is...he is a wanderer. Here is everyone walking through the tall prairie grasses.
Here is one of the deer drinking holes. It is pretty low right now...the kids thought it was a meteor hole. Scared Kayla to death...she thought aliens were going to come get us!

Gee...all that hiking through those tall, muddy prairie grasses really did a number on Major. He was tuckered out!

For the love of cousins

Here is Brooke and MaKenna....lovin' cousins!! They just love each other so much! They ahve tons of fun together! Brooke is 5 and Kenna is 4. Yes...they have the same outfit on! This was taken the weekend I had both girls when everyone else went seperate directions for hockey. Rhonda had given me Brooke's old outfit...Brooke was wearing Kayla's old outfit....Rhonda had packed that outfit and I said, "Ahhh...let's be twins!!!" :-)

Wii and friends...

We play a lot of the Wii fit around my house. How do you know? Well...when you get the Wii board out, turn your back for one second only to turn around and see your 1 year old mounting the board like he is a pro...that is when you know you play it a lot!!!

A couple weeks ago we sent Deana and Rich Ramsey out on a date. They did SO much for us when mom died that we felt like we needed to give back. Though it isn't anywhere NEAR what they did for us...hopefully it was a good night. So, they went to Anthony's Steak House and we kept their kids for them. All three of them during dinner...then they came back at got Nehemiah because she is still nursing, and we kept the other two overnight for them. We had a lot of fun. Gabriel is 6, Hannah is 4, and Nehemiah is 15 months. Yes, we were pregnant at the same time with Major and Nehemiah. So here is Jake, Gabriel, MaKenna and Hannah about to watch Madagascar 2. MaKenna says that she is going to marry Gabriel. He isn't so sure.
Here are the pretty girls playing dress up. They both put on a couple of MaKenna's flower girl dresses. I gave them some fake flowers and they pretended that they were getting married. They walked into the boys' room and said, "Are we pretty?" OF COURSE the boys answered with a "YES!" (now leave us alone!) :-)

60's, 70's....ooohhh la la

It has been SO nice! Today and yesterday it was 75 degrees out!!! SOOO nice. ALMOST hot!! We are used to sub zero temperatures...to us 75 is BURNING up!! I didn't get pictures from the last two HOT days...but the following pictures are from a couple weeks ago when we were so excited because it was in the 40's and 50's!!! Major was THRILLED to get back into his swing!!!! Here are the boys and the neighbor kid playing street hockey...and of course...MaKenna pushing Major in the stroller!!! They ABSOLUTELY LOVED getting out of the house! Then...we had another REALLY cold spell...but now...NOW WE ARE HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! YIPPEE!!!!

The "F" word

Okay...this is just TOO funny not to post. Hopefully I won't get in trouble by Aunt Holly for posting this, but it is just great!

Jake got in the truck today after school and said, "Mom, Cam has been saying the "F" word a lot lately."

I looked at Cam with big eyes and said, "WHAT "F" word?"

Jake interuppted and said, "Not the "F" word that Aunt Holly says, the other "F" word."

I said, "Aunt Holly says the "F" word?"

Jake said, "Yeah, when she had to tow grandpa Jerry's boat with her boat at Lake Powell."

I smiled to myself....as I WELL remember that day...and I said, "Ohhh...so what "F" word does Cam say then?"

His reply was, "Friggin'"

I explained that Friggin' is not REALLY a bad word, it just can be perceived as bad and that is why we try not to use that word as an adjective. He was happy with that response.

I got quite a good chuckle out of that though......"Not the "F" word that Aunt Holly says..." HAA!!! I thought that was great! Sorry Aunt Holly!!!!!

Poor baby Major....

Major is sick again. Poor baby. Croupy cough, fever, CLINGY...VERY VERY CLINGY. He slept a majority of today, but he would ONLY sleep if I was holding him. Heaven forbid I try to put him down even for a minute so I can use the bathroom. But, I understand, poor guy doesn't feel good. Hopefully he will feel better soon. No runny nose or anything, just a fever and a bit of a croupy cough. :-( Poor baby....

MaKenna...my angel!

Today at Bible Study, MaKenna's teacher came up to me and handed me two very nicely colored papers. She said, "Tonya, I just had to tell you, MaKenna colored these and brought them over to me. She said that she colored them for Nana and Mickey (our dog that died this summer), and that when she goes to Heaven, she will deliver them herself." What a sweetie. Poor baby. It made the teacher sad, but MaKenna wasn't sad, she knows where Nana and Mickey are!

In the picture below is her in one of her flower girl dresses...she had dress up time one evening with her friend Hannah!

Major...such a sweetie!

I walked by his Toddler room today at Bible Study....I waved at him, and he blew me a kiss!!!! So precious!!!!
The picture below is him going in to give me a kiss. He is all about open mouth kisses!!!

The FINAL hockey weekend until October anyway....

So, this past weekend was the final tournaments. Jake's was in Des Moines, and Cam's was in Kansas City. Initially I would take Jake, and Jeff would take Cam, but Jake got temporarily "cut" from the team. He plays with the Squirts all the time and he is really good...but when he is with the Mites he goofs off and doesn't even try...therefore..."cut". So, Jeff took both of the boys and I stayed home with Major and MaKenna. Now...I ASSUMED when Jake was "cut" that I would be going to Kansas City. But, you know what happens when you "assume"...right? I asked Jeff the day AFTER the cutoff for hotel reservations, "You got us a room right?" His reply went like this..."Yeah...Scott got us a room." I said, "Why did Scott get US a room?" He looks at me and goes, "Uh...woops." Case closed. He forgot that I would be going...therefore he was roomng with Scott and his son. Oh well. The wife was forgotten...what's new. :-) It turned out to be just fine though. Rhonda and Mike went to Des Moines with Shawn who was on the Mite Select team, and so...thinking...hey! I could get something done this weekend if someone were here to entertain MaKenna.....so I invited Brooke...Rhonda's 5 year old to stay with us. It was fine. We had a great time...but I didn't get ANYTHING done. They wanted to snuggle with me during movie time, they wanted me to read a book...to play games...etc. Oh well...we still had a good time though and I think the littlest cousins needed some playtime together! So, Friday night Rhonda brought Brooke over around 5:30. Jeff, Cam and Jake had already left. At 6:30...the party started!! I invited Tini and Matt over and also my sister in laws Fiance, Tanner. Dixie was in AZ...so the poor guy who just moved out here two weeks ago, was all alone....so he came over too. It made our teams even which was good! Teams you ask? Yes...we had teams. Boys versus girls on the Wii Fit! That's right...I am obsessed with the Wii Fit! It told me I lost more weight, so I am currently in love with it. So, at 7pm, Tini and I left Matt and Tanner with Major, Brooke and MaKenna (hahahahahahahah...evil laugh)...and we went and got food at La Mesa. We also got a pie at Village Inn! We were REALLY living it up! We got back, put Major to bed, got MaKenna and Brookes movie ready and ate up our yummy mexican with a dessert of European Truffle Pie. BEWARE of European Truffle Pie. It was DELICIOUS, but EXTRAORDINARILY rich. SO rich that Tini and I LITERALLY ate 2 bites and we both looked at eachother and said, "ugh....I can't do it anymore." And you guys know my love of chocolate. That is SOOOOO unlike me...but I just couldn't do it. So...Tanner, after eating a slice of European Truffle, AND a slice of Pudding Pie that I made for Matt (it is his favorite), he finished off Tini's and my Truffle Pie. Apparently the richness didn't phase him. More power to him! AND he STILL managed to do the hula hoop! I couldn't even hardly watch him do it I was so sick from the richness of the pie! Anyway, we had a great time! We did the ski jump, the slalom course, marble derby thing...so forth and so on...and I must say..."GIRLS RULE, BOYS DROOL!" That's right...the girls won!!! YEAH US!!!!!!!!!!! Then we played Rabid Rayman or something like that. It was tons of fun....but we were having a nasty little thunder storm, and the lights went out...turning the Wii off in its path....which is actually probably a good thing. It was already 12:30 am and we showed no sign of stopping anytime soon. The lights going off was our cue. It was hailing pretty good though, so they waited a little while before they left. The next morning the girls were ready and raring to go at 7 am. I wanted to sleep...but, it was my own fault for staying up late...but OH SO WORTH IT! I had a lot of fun!! Thanks guys!!!!! Obviously I don't get out much...or in this case, have fun "in" much.

So Saturday was fun. Brooke, MaKenna and Major and I went to Walmart...fun (right), then we went to Taco Bell...yum. At 4, Hannah Ramsey had her 4th birthday party, so we were there until around 8 or so. Then it was home to watch The Little Mermaid and then bed. EVERYONE....including the dog I think...slept in my bed that night. Needless to say, I got VERY little sleep.

Sunday morning I got everyone up....since I wasn't sleeping anyway...and we went to church. It was actually tough getting them up because of Daylight Saving's Time. They thought they had another hour of sleep. I WISH! But we managed. Daddy and the boys were home by lunch time Sunday. Then Brooke went home around 3. It was a VERY full, VERY busy...but fun weekend! I am still trying to recuperate! I am just not as young and spry as I used to be I guess! :-)

So...hockey...Cam's team lost all three of their games. Saturday after losing 2 games, Jeff ran to Walmart and bought the whole team a bunch of pink tiaras and made them run around wearing them. They had a "ritual" of sorts. Lysoling the bags to get the bad karma out, dancing around, stuff like that. I wish I had seen it...apparently it was a hit with the parents and the kids alike. I can't wait to see pictures. So, Sunday they DID play MUCH better...but still lost. :-(

Tonight they played a friendly game against the Mite Select Team. Jake played with the Squirts also. They lost by one goal. It wasn't a pretty site....Squirts being beat by the Mites. Not pretty at all. But...they play against eachother again on Thursday and I am sure they will redeem themselves. It actually was a really good game. Both teams played very well.

After Thursday...we are DONE with hockey...at least until October...when it is 4 nights a week and 1 day every weekend again. Ugh. I dread it already! No...I really do enjoy it...I just get burnt out on it....but the boys are SOOOO good at it! MaKenna says she wants to play hockey now instead of hockey dance (what she calls her figure skating). I am trying to talk her out of it....we will see!

Wii update

I like the Wii again. I have been EXTRA good...AND I have been walking the boys home from school. Did I mention I have been EXTRA good? I got on it tonight...it says I lost 3.1 pounds. Yes Ms. Wii...you are my friend again.....

What a sweet man I am married to!

For those of you who have not seen Fireproof the movie with Kirk Cameron...and are married...or planning on getting married...you have GOT to see it! It was an incredible movie. I don't know if that movie had ANYTHING to do with Jeff's kindness lately, but if it did...YAY! If not...YAY anyway! He was so sweet. Yesterday I got home from having lunch with a friend...MaKenna and Major were with me, and Jeff was home sick. I ran into the kitchen and saw two wrapped presents on the table. Oh oh, I thought....I must have missed something. I mentally did a checklist of the date and possible occasions I may have missed. It is so unlike me to miss anything...but after probing my brain I came up empty (ha ha...you know what I mean!). Anyway, I asked Jeff what the occasion was...he said, "Just because." I opened the first box to find a beautiful satin pajama set. Now...most men would get the slinky outfit...and I am sure Jeff would have like to...but he said, "I want you to be comfortable when you sleep." Ahhhh....the next box was a nice big, warm and comfy robe. Very fluffy! I loved it! Very unexpected, but very sweet...you won't hear me complaining!!!

Added SEVERAL posts...make sure you get to them all!!!!

I am playing catch up!!!! SO SORRY!!!!

LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!

This song says it all! I just love it! It is SUCH a Tonya song...wouldn't you agree? Okay...so the age is JUST a tad off...only by a couple years...but other than that...it is SO me! Make sure you listen to it on the player at the bottom of the page.

Francesca Battistelli -
Free To Be Me
From the album My Paper Heart

At twenty years of age
I'm still looking for a dream
A war is already waged for my destiny
But You've already won the battle
And You've got great plans for me
Though I can't always see

(Chorus)

I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to put the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

When I was just a girl
I thought I had it figured out
See my life will turn out right
And I'll make it here somehow
But things don't always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt, 'cause...

(Chorus)

Sometimes I believe
That I can do anything
Yet other times I think
I've got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and tell me
That I've got all You seek
And it's easy to believe, even though...

(Chorus)

Pizza Machine

So I am a little slow with posting...but, hey...it eventually gets done!! So...remember that trip we took last, last weekend to Pizza Machine with Grandpa Jerry? Well...here are the pics finally!!! We had a great time! The food was PLENTIFUL and great...we each gained an extra 5 pounds...but hey...we had a good time! Here is Major and I!

Here are Kenna, Jeff and Jake picking out their "priceless" toys. Cam and Grandpa Jerry were off playing Jurassic Park...which, by the way, they played for 30 minutes on one "dosage" of quarters!
Here is Major watching the train go around with another little boy on it! We had a good time with him in the play area. There were these...um...like boxer thingie mabobbers...you know the big cylinder things that boxers use to practice on? Anyway, there were two in his pathway in the play area and they were swinging back and forth...he had no idea what they were and just kept walking. One hit him right in the gut and his face was similar to what you see below and it just plopped him right back on his little bum. It was very funny!

MaKenna and Jake on the ride. You can tell which ONES like to play and ride things...and which ONE likes to play games ONLY. That kid.....

MaKenna and Major in a "tribute to Papa" ride! :-)
Thanks "Aunt" tini for taking the pictures!!!!!!

God is our Father

It was so cute. We were driving home from Lincoln when MaKenna...just out of the blue said, "Mom...God is our Father." Pleasantly surprised, I said, "Yes MaKenna, He is." She paused a minute, then said, "Mom, God is light, and we will see Him in heaven some day." I said, "Yes MaKenna God is light and we will see him in heaven some day." (I learned in Early Childhood education...that was my minor...to repeat what they say). Anyway...that is where it ended. SHE'S FOUR! She started humming a song then. My heart was so happy.

Stupid Wii!

I have had TONS of fun with the Wii since we got it last Christmas. For my birthday this past November my wonderful in laws bought me the Wii fit. Not because they were trying to tell me something...no...I asked for it. And I must say, I love it. I did it religiously for about a month...then Christmas happened...then my mom got sick...etc, etc. So...it had been since before Christmas that I had gotten on it. I got on it about a week and a half ago when Jeff's dad was here...(we were all competing in the ski jump...which I hold the record on)...and it said I gained 4 pounds. I honestly didn't think that was bad considering Christmas had happened and my mom...and I am a big time stress eater...so I was actually pleased with ONLY four pounds. Then a week went by, and I remember that I am trying to get into the habit of getting on it every day again...so I got on it again, and it said I lost 2 pounds. Hey...alright...we are going in the right direction! GOOD FOR ME! So, I forgot AGAIN...and it had been about 3 days since I got on it and it said I GAINED 3 pounds!! WHAT!?!?!?! I had been eating good...no sweets...etc. WHAT DO YOU MEAN I GAINED!? Do you know what I did???? I went right out and bought a gallon of ice cream! I figured if I am gaining I might as well be enjoying myself!!!!
Well...yes, I bought the ice cream...and I got home and scooped everybody bowls...except myself...I didn't even take a taste. I was very proud of myself...especially since my intentions were to eat half the gallon! Whew....

Deer Bunny

Oh MaKenna....is it just her, or do all 4 year olds say the darndest things? I guess it is all 4 year olds...hence the tv show...."Kids say the darndest things". Anyway...her and I and Major...Deana, Hannah and Nehemiah decided to go to LoneStar today after Bible Study. Kids eat free on Tuesdays...HUGE savings. So...the kids are eating their food...we always get their first because we want to avoid any meltdowns...Deana and I are just "shooting the breeze", when MaKenna says, "LOOK! A deer bunny!!!" Now...I know the Arizona folks will LOVE this one. You midwesterners won't get it...so you have my permission to be baffled. Anyway...it took me a second too. Deer bunny? Whatever MaKenna. So...in good mom fashion, I chose to ignore her. She said it again...LOUDER! Finally, Deana started laughing...I turned around to see a Jackolope hanging behind me! Yes MaKenna...I guess it is a Deer Bunny!! Who knew they were given new...more appropriate names??

Dad's off on his first vacation alone

Well...dad is off. He left for Arizona this evening. This is his first trip without mom. He and mom would go to Arizona every spring for spring baseball training. Dad would catch a few games with his 4 brothers and mom would go shopping with the wives. Dad will still catch the ball games, but the wives will be without their best bargain hunter. :-( I hope they don't spend too much money.

Dad was antsy to get going. He needs a break from all the paperwork. It was tough trying to grapple all of the paperwork, the taxes, etc., that he had to manage after her death. Plus he still has to deal with Uncle Alvin's stuff...but now, he can relax and enjoy himself for a week. Good for him!

YET ANOTHER wild Hockey weekend....

So this PAST weekend we were in Lincoln for ANOTHER one of Cam's tournaments. No pictures this time...my card was full and I couldn't find another one, even though I have HUNDREDS around the house...they are just never where they are supposed to be. They are similar to socks in a dryer. Anyway, I did have my video camera though, so that is good! Jake had his last house game Saturday morning at 11, and Jeff and Cam had to be in Lincoln at about 11. So, Major, Kenna and I took Jake to his last game, while Jeff and Cam went off to Lincoln. It kinda stunk because Jeff is Jake's coach too...but he has some great Assistant Coaches. Jake lost their game...but it was a good game. "Aunt" Tini and "Uncle" Matt came to watch. Jake thought that was cool! After the game we headed straight for Lincoln. Cam's game was at noon, and by the time we got to Lincoln it was around 1:30, so they were already dressed and done with that game. They lost that game, and Jeff was very disappointed because he said they looked very sluggish and out of it. We find out why later....

So I dropped Jake off with Jeff and Cam and Major and Kenna and I headed to Milford which is another 20 miles west of Lincoln. Dad was there doing business for Uncle Alvin and I was to meet him at Alvin's house to help him clean it out some more. I got to Milford around 2:30, and I helped clean up...I meant to go see mom...but would you believe that we got so short on time I forgot until I was out of town? IS THAT JUST TERRIBLE????? I feel HORRIBLE!! I DO feel better though, dad had gone and visited her earlier that day...but what a terrible daughter I am! I am headed to Milford again NEXT weekend, so I will be sure to make an extra extended visit to mom. Anyway, Cam's next game was at 4, so dad and I left Milford at 3:30. Dale Hauder joined us to watch the game...that was fun to have him there (he is my 2nd or 3rd cousin...I don't know how that works).

They won the 4 pm game...and Cam got the first goal! He SAYS he didn't get it...but the goal keeper and everyone on the team says he did...so I guess he did! They ended up taking 3rd in the tournament which is pretty good for such a young team!

So, now Jake is done with hockey, and Cam is at practice tonight...his last practice. They have a tournament in Kansas City this weekend...that will be his last for the season then. Thank goodness!! Don't get me wrong...I love hockey...and I love that they are so good at it and that they love it too...but it is SUCH a long season! It runs October through March. UGH! Then...when you put in there two boys...on different teams, and a husband that coaches BOTH teams...then you throw in the Select Teams that they are on.....AAAHHHH!!!! It was a CONSTANT ICE RINK PARTY! EVERY NIGHT! EVERY WEEKEND!!! So...we have a break now. Whew. I will not be going to Kansas City. :-( I am bummed...but Jeff booked the hotel with another coach and his son before asking if we wanted to go. I didn't go to the Des Moines Tournament but that was because mom was sick....he forgot the reason, he just assumed I didn't want to go. WRONG! Oh well...what's done is done. So...instead, I am having a Girls...and boys...weekend. Tini and Matt...Tanner....Kenna, Major and I...and maybe a couple other friends are going to have a Wii Fit Tournament of our OWN! Maybe then a chic flic!! Yes...guys included...if they don't like it...they can leave! If you don't know who Tanner is...he is almost my brother in law. Okay...so...speaking of Wii Fit! I hold the record for Ski Jump! Jeff can't stand it...he stays up VERY late at night trying to beat my record. It truly is pathetic! :-) He is terribly sick now though....since Saturday, so he hasn't had a chance to beat me yet...though he has tried, sick and all. OH...speaking of which...the reason the boys were so sluggish at the first Squirt game? Apparently the goalie was sick to his stomach as was shown in the locker room prior to the second game. The whole locker room stunk of his bowel movement. It stunk SO bad that Jeff was dry heaving and so were some of the kids. One of the kids actually THREW UP because the smell was so bad. Needless to say, he did not play...then the goalie that stunk it up so bad...ended up throwing up after the other one threw up from the first ones smelly poo! It was a total mess! So...the second game they actually won with a kid that was thrown in as goalie that had never been goalie before because the other one was sick! Ugh...does that make sense? Only in a Filleman story.....
So, Jeff is sick right now...but with the influenza. He stayed home from work Monday and today...I think he will go back tomorrow...he is pretty miserable though and sounds miserable too! Poor thing. I was happy that it was the flu though because all of us got shots except him...so I figured we would be in the clear...until I heard this morning on the news that the common flu going around right now, is NOT the strain that the vaccine was given for. :-( SO...now I am bummed...because I will probably get sick. As well as the rest of the family. We never catch a break! Maybe...just maybe we can skip this one...keep your fingers crossed...I know mine are, as well as prayers are going up on my end!!
