Thursday Night Pink Party

So Thursday night I went to Putting on the Pink party with my sister. Susan G. Komen put it on. It was for anyone to attend...but Rhonda and I got to go for free (the cost is usually $25 a person), because Rhonda was being honored as one of the something like 15 people, who raised over $1,000 for the Race for the Cure this past year!! She got a corsage and everything! We had a lot of fun....but not so much that we stayed the whole time. We went...we got our pictures taken....she was honored...we ate (catered by Upstream)....we drank (I, pink lemonade, her a pink martini)...we had dessert (that was yummy and VERY sinful)....and then we went to the mall which was across the street!!

We had a good time together though. It is on a very rare occastion that Rhonda and I can go do something with no kids or husbands around. We had a very nice, sisterly evening!!! Even though that one pink martini Rhonda had "warmed" her up a bit! :-)

5th Grade Parent Meeting

So...I go to this parent meeting for 5th grade parents. I am expecting it to be about what to expect in middle school next year.

WRONG!

Had I been prepared...it would have maybe been different.

The topic was on Sex Ed. Apparently the 5th graders are doing that particular "health" topic in a couple weeks and wanted the parents to know EXACTLY what would be covered. Okay...I can handle that.

The parents of the boys went to one room and the parents of the girls to another and we watched the video that our children would be watching. Mr. Seger (Cam's teacher) said that he expected giggling from the boys...because after all they are only 11 and immature....he expected that from them....but that he would cease the giggling after awhile.

Apparently, I have learned....I am very immature!!!! This is surprising to me! I have catheterized women AND men before...I have done hernia checks...you name it...I've done it...so why would seeing an animated penis on a tv screen make me giggle?????????

Don't worry...I didn't let anyone know that I was giggling! I held my jaw together SO tight that it hurt the rest of the night. Is it because I am immature....is it because I was ill prepared....is it because the teacher said something about giggling?? Who knows....but it was an awful experience that only lasted 5 minutes....but it seemed like an eternity!

To make it worse...after showing the pictures (remember...this is for the boys' benefit on how their bodies are changing), they talk about erections. I truly almost lost it at that point!!!

Tsk, tsk Tonya!! What is wrong with you!!! You are 34 years old!!! My mom would be mortified!!

What did Samantha and Major do now???

Last week was FULL of THINGS to do! One thing after another it seemed.

Monday Night: Summer hockey
Tuesday Night: Parent Meeting for Kindergarten
Yes...my baby girl will be going to Kindergarten next year and yes we DID
decide to send her instead of homeschool her like we did the boys....
So even though I have two older children, I have never sent any to
Kindergarten....so this is a first for me! :-(
Also Tuesday Night: The boys started LaCrosse. Two different teams, two different practices,
two different times....very buys daddy! Deana watched Maj and Kenna for
me that night.
Wednesday Night: Parent Meeting for 5th graders. That is a whole different post! Allyson
watched Kenna and Maj for me.
Thursday Night: Susan G. Komen Pink Party with my sister
Friday Night: Family night (MaKenna's turn)

And this is just the night time events!!! The days were packed too!!! Mops...piano lessons, other appointments....and Major's Boys Town research event....another post.
Anyway....for now...we will focus on Wednesday night and what Samantha and Major got themselves into! Samantha is Allyson's 2 year old. A few months older than Major. She is the little girl that I babysit on Wednesdays.

We were in the living room...we heard the toilet flush. Not a big deal...we had 3 potty trained kids in the house...and 1 potty training kid. Then we heard it flush again...and again. Hmm...maybe we should check. This is what we found:

They look a little GUILTY don't they???????

Every bath toy in the toilet! Luckily they were all too big to be flushed....but, to top things off...they had filled water guns with toilet water and were spraying eachother...they were both SOAKING wet!!

Allyson said, "Samantha has NEVER done anything like this before...it must be Major."
I said, "WHAT? Major has NEVER done anything like that either!"

I did forget about the kitty being thrown into the toilet....

Anyway....it is the two of them together...I guess we learned that you can't put two 2 year olds together without SOMETHING being "thought up"!

Needless to say, they DID both get baths!

Great blog to check out!

Found a great blog! Check it out!! She has a lot of great giveaways!

The Difference in Children

This is tooooo funny!

Picture this:

Same day...two boys, just home from school bring me mail.

Boy #1, Cam hands me his....oh....it is a letter from school. Cam got put into an advanced placement math class for middle school next year! Great job Cam!!!!

Boy #2, Jake hands me his...oh...it is also a letter from school. Jake needs to take summer school for math. Oh dear...

Funny how two children can come from the same womb....be raised by the same parents...homeschooled for years by the same mother...etc...etc....and yet turn out SOOOOO incredibly different!!

Should I be surprised? Probably not.....

She Color's My Day!

In addition to creating relationships and meeting other Moms across the globe, one of my favorite things about social media is the ability to band together and make a difference.

I'm asking you to help in spreading the word about a movement that is designed especially to celebrate the bond between mothers and daughters and create a cure for a disease that I know has impacted many of us personally. I'm proud to support the She Colors My Day project and I hope you'll join me in spreading the word about this important initiative.

The She Colors My Day project began when a mother named Annette, dying of breast cancer, created a keepsake for the four daughters she was preparing to leave behind. Annette sent a c.d. of she and her daughters singing to her many friends and family. Unbeknown to Annette, her act of love would be the inspiration for her friend, Cristina Carlino, founder of Project Miracle, to ignite the She Colors My Day movement - a celebration of the never-ending bonds of mothers and daughters.

The now worldwide She Colors My Day movement embarks upon a global journey to create for a cure. Inspired by a mother's infinite love, this ever widening circle of caring will benefit the Susan G. Komen for a Cure ® Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation's /Women's Cancer Research Group biomarker project. Hear the story in Cristina's own words here.

So how can you get involved?

Color With Us- We can start by taking the first steps to coloring someone else's day through a platform we all know well- Facebook. The She Colors My Day pink crayon is a Facebook application created to be shared with those we love. The pink crayon can be virtually passed around on Facebook so we can all help to create for a cure.

Sing Along- The "She Colors My Day" song co-written by Cristina Carlino and Stuart Mathis for Cristina's daughter has been recorded by multi-Grammy award winner, Amy Grant. Download the "She Colors My Day Song" and video and help to support this organization. A portion of net proceeds from the song supports the She Colors My Day project, benefiting Susan G. Komen for a Cure ® Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation's/Women's Cancer Research Group.

Spread the Word- The ultimate goal of the "She Colors My Day" project is to support mothers and daughters and create a cure.
